Brooklyn-based artist, Destiny Belgrave allows her Bajan and African American cultures to merge and create a place for her to rest within the house of Blackness. Dabbling in different mediums such as painting, drawing, fabric, paper cutouts, collage and writing, her art is used as a means to honor, uphold and uplift her family, familial narratives, Diasporic rituals, customs, foods and objects. A 2020-2021 fellow of the A.I.R. Gallery Fellowship and a 2020-2021 BRICworkspace Residency participant, Belgrave’s work has been shown in various places including the Reginald F Lewis Museum in Baltimore, Trestle Projects in Brooklyn and the Bongsan Cultural Center in Daegu, South Korea.
