Recipient of two consecutive Gordon Parks Foundation Scholarships, Wesley De Jesus Bruno was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico before moving to the United States in 2006. Since then, he has acquired a keen sense of awareness and appreciation for portraits, fashion, landscape, and documentary photography--the lines of which he blurs in his own practice. After moving to the Bronx, Wesley’s drive to make photographs increased. He is now focused on documenting the growth of his younger brother, the religious and spiritual practices of Voodoo and other beliefs in his Bronx community, and the beauty that exists inside and outside of Black bodies. His work has been published in Attitude magazine.
