The grandson of a master geometer, Iranian-born, Dubai-based artist Nima Nabavi meticulously builds layers upon layers of lines with surgical precision. Relying on nothing but the stillness of his hands and archival ink, the artist configures shapes and patterns with near-transcendental patience that result in sublimely beautiful renderings. At first glance his images appear to have been executed digitally. A closer look, however, very gently reveals the human hands behind them. The artist purposefully uses different thickness for his pens, and, at time, leaves irregularities in pens, turning what is initially believed to be a mechanically-produced images into a minimalist yet humane organism. This specific artwork 2017.06.04, forms an important milestone in the artist's oeuvre, marking an important bridge to the bodies of work that would define his later style. While this artwork was not initially meant to be offered commercially, it is with great honor that the artist, together with The Third Line gallery, is offering this pivotal piece to the market.
