The artist Dylan Reitz, influenced by his dual Dominican and American descent, explores the liminal space that exists between seemingly opposing forces: animate and inanimate, digital and organic, motion and stasis. Accordingly, his works straddle hybrid spaces that the artist dutifully explores, as noted in another set of opposites: 'Easy Unease.' By transforming personal ephemera--from old sketches to letters--into handmade pulp, the artist imbues the material originally used as a conduit for a message [be it in drawing or text form] with a new alternate meaning. In layering his handmade paper in undulating forms, a sense of motion enters the work, transforming a personal relic into a dynamic and moving passage in time.
